LEVELLAND – South Plains College will unveil a new state-of-the-art addition to the Texan Dome when they host New Mexico Junior College in a women's/men's double header Monday, Feb. 10 during their Homecoming contest.

Tipoff is set for 5:45 p.m. for the women's game, with the men to follow at 7:45 p.m. 

Through a fundraising effort led by SPC Director of Athletics Joe Tubb, South Plains College has added a scoreboard with video and message board displays. 

"This is a fantastic addition for South Plains College and the Texan Dome," Tubb said.  "It will not only add to game day excitement for out fans, but the parents of all our graduates will really enjoy the effect in May." 

Tubb also added that every dollar for the board has been raised privately and, therefore, not a single tax dollar will be used.  

The board was made possible through the generosity of:  Best Western South Plains Inns and Suites; Covenant Hospital Levelland; City Bank; Smith South Plains; Coca Cola; and McDonald's of Levelland. 

South Plains chose a great time to display their new video board for the first time as they will host New Mexico in pivotal conference contests for both the men and women. 

The Lady Texans are currently on a four-game winning streak and will look to avenge a 53-49 loss in Hobbs Jan. 9.  The fifth-ranked Texans just snapped a two-game losing streak and will play a team that had South Plains on the ropes last month until the Texans rallied late in the game for a 73-71 victory.  

Both the Texans and Lady Texans are still in the hunt for a Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) championship as the Texans are tied with Odessa for the league lead and the Lady Texans are only a game behind New Mexico. 

Monday's contests will be streamed live over the Internet with the crew from SPC TV calling the action.  Fans can also catch KLVT Radio's Michael Wiiest on the radio at 1230 AM andwww.klvtradio.com.
