Texans get revenge with 77-60 defeat of Odessa

LEVELLAND - South Plains College raced out to a 17 point halftime advantage and never looked back as they avenged a Jan. 24 road loss to the Wranglers, 77-60 Thursday night at the Texan Dome.

Kendahl Amerson led the way for the Texans, scoring 22 points on 7-of12 from the field.  Devonte Smith made 7-of-11 shots to finish with 30 points and Anthony Walker finished with 18.

The victory was a huge boost to the Texans postseason hopes as they remain tied for fourth place in the WJCAC standings with Odessa College.  In the event of a tie, South Plains (20-7, 9-5) owns the tiebreaker thanks to a season sweep of the Chaparrals.

South Plains (20-7, 9-5) has two games remaining on their schedule, the first of which will be against Frank Phillips College Monday night in Borger.  The Texans' season finale is scheduled Thursday, Feb. 28 when the Texans host Clarendon at the Texan Dome.
