NJCAA Championship Tailgate Party Planned for Tuesday, April 10

LEVELLAND - The South Plains College Athletic Department has scheduled a tailgate party for Tuesday, April 10 at 5 p.m. to celebrate the Texans' NJCAA basketball championship achieved late last month.

The celebration will take place inside the confines of the Texan Dome where hot dogs and drinks will be served from 5-5:30 p.m. before the program begins at 5:30 p.m. Players and coaches will be available to sign autographs and pose for pictures following the celebrations. Approximately 200 photos of the team will be available to fans upon entry for autographs.


South Plains completed the first perfect season in school history when they defeated Northwest Florida State College 81-68 in the NJCAA Championship game to claim their first title since 2008, finishing the season with a 36-0 record. The Texans are only the sixth team in the history of the NJCAA to run the table and the first since Indian Hills do so in 1998.

There will be no cost for admission. Hot dogs and beverages will also be free of charge and National Championship t-shirts will be on sale for $10.
