Texan Basketball Players Set to Sign Monday at 2 p.m.

LEVELLAND - Texan basketball players Derrell Edwards andDeshaunt Walker will make it official where they plan to continue their academic and athletic pursuits during a press conference Monday at 2 p.m. at the T-Club lounge located inside the Texan Dome.

With their signing, Edwards and Walker will join Marshall Henderson (Ole Miss), Greg Gainey (UT-Arlington), and Stanton Kidd (North Carolina Central) as other Texans who will be playing basketball at the NCAA Division I level next season.

Edwards was a returner who had been named to the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) Honorable Mention team after averaging 12 points per game while playing nearly 30 minutes per contest during the 2010-11 season.

Walker also had a significant freshman season, starting 25-of-30 games for the Texans. During the 2010-11 season Walker scored nearly nine points per game while playing a little more than 28 minutes per game.

Both players saw decreased action in their sophomore campaigns but each played vital roles coming off the bench to help the Texans to their second NJCAA Championship in five seasons when they defeated Northewest Florida State 81-68 to cap a perfect 36-0 season.
