Texans Square off With Coastal Bend in Final 2010 Contest

LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texans will look to improve their overall record to 7-4 when they play host to Coastal Bend College (3-8) at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4th at the Texan Dome. The game will be streamed live and can be accessed by clicking here.

After beginning the season with a four-game winning streak, the Texans have not exactly navigated through their schedule as smoothly as they would have liked, dropping four consecutive games to Lon Morris, Jacksonville, Grayson, and Collin County. They have since righted the ship with two victories this past weekend in Plano at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic by avenging a loss to Grayson and then pummeling Carl Albert State College, bringing them to a present day record of 6-4.

The Texans cannot afford to take Coastal Bend lightly as they defeated a tough McLennan team last night, 66-62, and have twice come close to knocking off Region 5 foe Temple College and recently played a currently undefeated San Jacinto team to within six points.  With the win against the Highlanders, the Cougars improve their record to 4-8 on the season.

South Plains College will look to slow down Ashton Brown and Tiondre Johnson who have averaged 15 points each thus far, leading the Cougars to 73 points per game.

Through ten games the Texans have three players averaging ten points or more per game, and two more just under the mark, led by freshman Greg Gainey at 13.4. South Plains College is scoring 76 points, while holding opponents to 60 per game.

Audio for the game will be provided free of charge and fans can also watch the game for a small fee.
