Texans Look to Rebound Against Region 5 Foes at Grayson Classic

Coming off two losses this past weekend in Jacksonville, Texas, the South Plains College Texan basketball team will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Denison, Texas for the Grayson County Classic November 19-20.

The Texans (4-2) will face the host school, Grayson County College, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Collin County Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Grayson College finished third in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) last season, finishing with an overall record of 22 wins and 9 losses and a conference record of 10-4. The Vikings are not off to quite as quick of a start as they will enter the contest versus the Texans with a record of 4-3.

The Collin County Cougars began the season red hot winning their first four games out of the gate. Collin will enter the weekend with a record of 4-1 and will face No. 2 ranked Howard College Friday before facing the Texans on Saturday.

Through six games the Texans have been led in scoring by Greg Gainey who is averaging 17.6 points per game and shooting an astounding 73-percent from the field. As a team the Texans are averaging nearly 86 points per contest.
