Texan and Lady Texan Basketball Return Home Following Tough Road Trips

Hoping to rebound from a tough loss Friday night at the hands of Lon Morris College, the South Plains College Texans got more than they could handle from Jacksonville College in a 116-74 loss. The Texans (4-2) were never really in the game, trailing 58-28 at the half.

After scoring only two points in the first 20-minutes of play, Greg Gainey made 15-of-16 shots in the second half to finish the day 16-of-21 from the field for a game high of 34-points. Derrell Edwards added 19 points.

About an hour Southeast of Jacksonville in the East Texas town of Lufkin the Lady Texans faced a very formidable opponent in Trinity Valley Community College.

Coming off a dominating win over Panola College the night before, the SPC women were looking to take 2-of-3 games from their first road trip. It was not to be as the Lady Texans had a rough time containing their opponent, ultimately losing 86-54.

Both teams return to action in games to be held November 19-20. The Lady Texans will travel to Seward, Kansas and square off with No. 9 ranked Seward County on November 19 at 6 p.m., and No. 17 ranked Hutchinson Community College on November 20 at 2 p.m.

The Texans are scheduled to travel to Denison, Texas to play in the Grayson County Classic. On November 19 they will play Grayson at 7:30 p.m. and follow that with a 1 p.m. matchup versus Collin County on Saturday, November 20.
