Team Effort Leads to a Texan Basketball Rout of University of the Southwest

LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texans (4-0,0-0) had five players score in double figures and all 13 athletes who entered the game scored in a 104-42 rout of the University of the Southwest junior varsity squad.

Brandon Thompson began the game by hitting two shots from beyond the arc and by midway through the first half the Texans sat comfortably with a 31-2 lead and would head to the locker room leading 44-11 to end the first half of play.

Kendell Hosten, finished the game two rebounds, two steals, and two assists away from a quadruple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight steals, and eight assists.

Freshman Malcolm Miller led the scoring charge for SPC as he just missed recording a double-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, and even dished out four assists.

Stanton KiddKenny Brown, and Deshaunt Walker scored 12 points each.

The Texans are scheduled to depart Levelland tomorrow for two games in the east Texas town of Jacksonville. They will face Lon Morris College Friday evening at 8 p.m. and on Saturday will square off with Jacksonville College at 12 p.m.
