Texan Basketball to Roll Out of Town for First Road Contests of Season

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Coach Steve Green's South Plains College Texans will hit the road to Weatherford, Oklahoma on Saturday for two games scheduled for Sunday, November 7 and Monday, November 8.

The Texans (1-0, 0-0) will face Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Redlands Community College at 1 p.m. Monday.


Northern Oklahoma College-Enid (2-0), a member of NJCAA Region 2, returns six players from last year's 22-9 season and should be led by Spencer Smith who averaged 10.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game during the 2009-20 campaign.

Redlands Community College is looking to rebound from a disappointing 5-15 season and will look to their lone returner, Marin Zelalija, for leadership. The Cougars are off to a 2-0 start this season after knocking off Fort Scott Community College 93-90 and Labette 95-83.

The South Plains College Texans enter the 2010-11 season ranked No. 22 in the NJCAA polls and head coach Steve Green will be looking for his 250th career victory as head coach of the Texans as he now stands at 249 victories to only 70 losses. Overall Green has won 403 games, including the Texans November 2nd 108-33 thrashing of the Lubbock Christian Junior Varsity squad.

The Texan basketball team's next scheduled home contest is Wednesday, November 10th at the Texan Dome versus University of the Southwest's junior varsity squad. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
