Texans Set for Season's First Tip-off Tuesday at 7 p.m.
LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texan basketball team will begin their 2010-11 season on Tuesday, November 2nd with a 7 p.m. tip and face the junior varsity squad of Lubbock Christian University.

Coach Steve Green will look to a young squad to improve upon last season's fourth place finish in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) as he has 11 freshmen and only three sophomores on the roster. Kenny Brown and Nick Diatta return from last season's team that finished with 18 wins and 11 losses, whileBrandon Thompson is a sophomore transfer from Arizona State University.

Before the basketball action begins, the South Plains College athletic department invites the public to come and 'Meet the Texans.' Barbecue will be available at 5:30 p.m. at the cost of $6 per plate for adults (12 and up), and $3 for children (5-11). Entertainment will be provided by SPC Commercial Music major Kate Hearne and Texan athletes will be introduced beginning at 6:10 p.m.

The purchase of an adult plate (for those 18 and up) will include an opportunity to win a trip for two to Las Vegas, courtesy of International Tours of Levelland, and will be drawn at halftime of the game.
