Sophomores lead SPC to 89-61 victory over NMMI
LEVELLAND, Texas - Sophomore Khaliq Gross continued having a hot hand when he tallied 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field in an important 89-61 victory over the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos. The win keeps the Texans (17-10, 7-6) in line for a berth to the Region 5 tournament held March 4-7 at Lubbock Christian University's Rip Griffin Center.

Sophomores Bo Ingram, Tramar Sutherland, Myles Walker and Gross were each playing their last game in the Texan Dome and all went out in style. Ingram complimented Gross' 23 points with 20 of his own, while Sutherland also scored in double figures with 13 points. Walker added 9 points.

The Texans are now tied with Odessa College (22-7, 7-6) who fell to third ranked Howard 59-50 tonight in Big Spring. The Texans can capture the third spot from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with a victory at New Mexico Junior College on Thursday along with an Odessa loss to second ranked Midland College (28-1, 12-1).

South Plains College is scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. MST tip-off with the Thunderbirds on Thursday, February 25 in the regular season finale. The game will be aired live on KLVT 1230 AM and live stats will be available at www.spctexans.com.
