Texans to Square Off against Weatherford to Close 2009

The South Plains College Texan basketball team departs for Weatherford this afternoon for a 4 p.m. match-up with the Coyotes of Weatherford College tomorrow afternoon. This will be the Texans first competition since Collin County's Thanksgiving Tournament November 27-28. SPC enters the game versus Weatherford with an 8-2 record, while the Coyotes sit at 5-2. 

So far this season the Texans have been led by Sophomores Myles Walker and Bo Ingram and freshman Josh Orta.

Walker, a 6-08 post from San Antonio has averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds, while Ingram, a native of Kinston, N.C. has been accurate on 50-percent of his field goal attempts and 44-percent of his three point attempts to average 10.5 points-per-game while also starting each of the 10 contests for SPC.

Orta, a point guard from San Antonio, is averaging just over 30 minutes per contest and has made 43-of-77 (.558) shot attempts from the field to average 11.5 points-per-game. Orta is also averaging 6.3 assists per contest and had game highs of 27 points and 11 assists against Temple College on November 20th.

This will mark the final competition of 2009 for the Texans as they will not play again until they travel to Arizona for a series of games January 2-4, 2010.
