Texans Hold On For Nine Point Victory
LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texans defeated Frank Phillips College 90-81 Monday night at the Texan Dome.
 
South Plains College led by as many as 26 points in the first half and eventually settled for a 24 point lead at intermission.  Still leading by 21 points with just over four minutes to go in the game, South Plains allowed the Plainsmen to go on a 12-0 to pull within nine points with 23 seconds left on the clock.  With little time left on the clock, SPC was able to hold on to a 90-81 victory.
 
Freshman Antwain Thomas led SPC with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting.  Thomas made 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line.  David Tairu had another nice game scoring 16 points, also adding six rebounds and six assists.  Point guard Landon Tatum scored 15 points and had a game high four steals.  Markhuri Sanders-Frison added twelve points and nine rebounds.  Also for SPC, freshman Myles Walker had seven points, Romel Kemp added six, Hugh Mingo scored five, Ladarius Hall tallied four, while Philip Outley, Tramar Sutherland, and Bo Ingram each scored two.
