South Plains Wins Scottsdale Holiday Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The South Plains College Texans defeated host Scottsdale 92-82 to win the 2009 Scottsdale Holiday Classic.  The victory improves the Texans' record to 13-1 overall.
 
Sophomore David Tairu led the Texan scoring charge with 24 points.  Tairu made 8-of-19 shots from the field including 3-of-4 from beyond the 3-point line.  Tramar Sutherland added 16 points and a team high 12 rebounds in the win.  Antwain Thomas and Markhuri Sanders-Frison added nine points each.  Also for SPC, Myles Walker scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds, Landon Tatum added seven points, Bo Ingram scored four points and Hugh Mingo three.
 
The Texans will return to Western Junior College Athletic Conference play on January 8 when they travel to Clarendon College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and Lucas Buck will be calling the game live on KLVT 1230 AM.
