Outlaw To Be Honored at Texan Dome December 6

LEVELLAND, Texas - Former South Plains College basketball player Charles "Bo" Outlaw will be at the Texan Dome for the Texans' game against Odessa College on December 6, 2008. At halftime of the men's game, Outlaw will be enshrined into the WJCAC and Texan Hall of Fames.

Bo Outlaw was a standout player for the Texans from 1989-1991, and led South Plains College to a 32-1 record in the 1990-1991 season, and was awarded with All American honors for that season before transferring to the University of Houston to complete his collegiate eligibility.

Undrafted out of college, Outlaw played in the CBA before being picked up by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1993, the first of a fantastic 15-year NBA career. In 1997, Outlaw began his first season with the Orlando Magic. The 1997-1998 season may very well be Outlaw's finest, as he played in all 82 regular season games, averaging 36 minutes per contest, 9.5 points-per-game, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocked shots.

Known as the 'hustler,' the Magic implemented the 'Bo Hustle Award' for employees who exemplify Bo's characteristics. Bo retired from Orlando in 2008, and is now the Director of Community Relations for the Orlando Magic.

Tip-off for the Lady Texans is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and the men will tip-off at 4:00 p.m. Bo Outlaw will also be signing autographs following the men's game. Admission is free of charge for South Plains College students and children under eight years of age, and $3.00 for adults.
